Linden - Armed Robbery

The Linden Police Department is requesting the public’s help to identify a robbery suspect.  On Friday, February 23rd at about 2:40 a.m. the suspect, shown in the video below, entered the Walgreens store located at 22 E. St. George Ave brandishing a black handgun.  He proceeded to the Pharmacy area in the back of the store where he jumped over the counter and stole a large quantity of prescription medications, including several opioids. The exact amount and type of pills taken is still unclear.

 

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male approximately 5’9” wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, black mask, and yellow gloves.

 

Detectives are asking anyone with information, particularly those who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, to contact Detective Juan Velarde or DSgt Jeff Carhart at (908) 474-8537.

Union Township - Taxi Robbery

The Union Township Police Department is investigating the robbery of a taxi driver that took place at the Garden State Motel on Rt. 22 on Tuesday 1/23 at 12:45 AM and is asking for the publics assistance with identifying the pictured individuals.  The unknown male choked the driver while trying to rob him. The unknown female was with the male and got out of the taxi prior to the robbery.  Union Township PD is trying to determine her role in this and would like to identify her.

Union Township Bank Robbery

On 1/13/18 at approximately 1:30pm, theTD Bank located at 995 Morris Ave in Union, NJ was robbed by the pictured male. The actor was described as a black male in his 40-50`s. He is 5`09-5`11 and heavy set. He was wearing black Nike shoes with a white swoosh and soles, a beige/brown driver`s cap, an unzipped waist length jacket (possibly North Face), and dark button up shirt (Two buttoned chest pockets) and dark pants.

Assistance from public requested in finding sexual assault suspect

Investigators are requesting assistance from the public in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for the alleged luring and sexual assault of a teenager in Elizabeth last week.

On Thursday, December 7, the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received a referral from the Elizabeth Police Department regarding the incident, which took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. the day before, Wednesday, December 6. Around that time, the 15-year-old victim was walking on Elizabeth Avenue near the U.S. Routes 1&9 entrance ramp, according to the preliminary investigation.

Driving a beige four-door sedan, the suspect approached the victim and asked her for directions to a local mall, then convinced her to enter his vehicle, the investigation revealed. The alleged sexual assault took place approximately 15 to 20 minutes later on nearby Livingston Street.

The Prosecutor’s Office today is distributing to the media a New Jersey State Police artist sketch of the suspect, described as an unknown Hispanic male, possibly in his 30s, with short-trimmed facial hair and wearing a black winter hat. Investigators are also releasing a brief surveillance video clip depicting the suspect’s vehicle traveling through Elizabeth.

Double fatal shooting in Elizabeth under investigation
November 01, 2017

Investigators have identified a vehicle believed to have been used in the fatal shooting of two women in Elizabeth shortly after midnight last Wednesday near Jackson Park, and assistance from the public is being requested to determine its connection to the person or persons responsible for the crime, acting Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour announced Thursday.  

The Prosecutor’s Office today is releasing video surveillance footage depicting the vehicle thought to have been involved in the deaths of Rah-Zhane Lee, 22, of East 4th Avenue in Roselle and Shaniquah Richardson, 24, of Franklin Street in Elizabeth.

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 2nd and Court streets in the city’s Elizabethport section and found Lee and Richardson with gunshot injuries at that location. The two victims were transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

The vehicle depicted in the surveillance video recovered from near the scene is a dark-colored sedan traveling at a high rate of speed.

This matter remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit. Burglary Investigation
October 24, 2017

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 11:00 pm male suspect is seen on security video walking in front of a local business, China Royal, on West Westfield Ave. The suspect is seen walking into the alley next to the business and making several attempts to kick in the side door. Eventually the suspect is successful and forcibly entering the business. The suspect is then seen exiting the business with carrying a cash register and walking away, out of the alley.

Note: The same male suspect was also observed several minutes before in the parking lot of another business, McDonalds, with a unknown female in an unknown vehicle.

The male suspect is described as white male adult wearing a sweat shirt, jeans and multicolored running shoes. The female person of interest is described as white female dark hair operating a small newer model 4 Door vehicle.

Homicide Investigation (2014)

Investigators are continuing to seek assistance or information from the public as the third anniversary of an unsolved 2014 Elizabeth homicide approaches this weekend, acting Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour said Friday.

Alonso Gordon, 39, of Elizabeth was fatally shot three years ago this Saturday.

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, police and emergency medical personnel rushed to the 200 block of Pine Street in the city’s Elizabethport section and found Gordon suffering from gunshot wounds.

Gordon had been sitting on the front steps of a building on that block when an unidentified suspect approached on foot and fired a handgun at him at close range. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department uncovered surveillance video footage that appears to depict the shooter rounding a street corner near the site of the homicide seconds before shots rang out. The suspect is dressed in what appears to be a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, and he is also wearing beige boots and a belt with a large metallic buckle.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to think back and recall any suspicious activity they may have witnessed. The night of October 14, 2014 was unseasonably warm and humid, with temperatures in the low 70s at around 10 p.m., humidity levels around 85 percent, and overcast skies.

Armed Robbery Investigation
September 25, 2017

Authorities Seek Information on Robbery Suspects


On Tuesday, September 5th at approximately 10 am, Elizabeth Police Officers responded to an armed robbery at the Jewelers on Fifth Jewelry Exchange inside the Mills at the Jersey Gardens Mall, 651 Kapkowski Rd.

 

In the video footage, the suspects can be seen entering Jewelers on Fifth brandishing weapons and taking a large quantity of jewelry. The suspects then fled through the Burlington Coat Factory.  Click the link below to view the video.

 

A black 4 door Audi was used in the robbery. Four of the suspects can be seen on surveillance video. Assistance from the public is requested to assist in identifying the suspects.

MURDER INVESTIGATION

Investigators are requesting assistance from the public in identifying and locating a suspect or suspects in a homicide that took place last month in Plainfield, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park and Plainfield Police Director Carl Riley jointly announced Thursday.

The Prosecutor’s Office today is releasing two surveillance video clips depicting the vehicle used in the commission of the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Anthony Henry.

Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to the 1000 block of East Second Street at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 found Henry there suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the investigation. Henry was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died due to his injuries at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4.

The vehicle depicted in the video clips being released today appears to be a dark red, four-door Honda Civic. Multiple muzzle flashes can be seen emanating from the vehicle’s front passenger-side window before it abruptly speeds away.  

This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit. The Union County Homicide Task Force and Plainfield PD are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 5:41 PM at 1013 East 2nd Street, Plainfield, New Jersey.

The unknown individual on the attached video file, wearing blue pants and a white and grayish hooded sweatshirt, was the shooter and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Investigation indicates that this suspect got into A black 2005-2011 Volkswagen Jetta with a sunroof, wind deflector, five spoke alloy wheels, tan interior, and missing the front license plate.



MURDER INVESTIGATIONS
October 19, 2015

The Union County Prosecutor`s Office Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department are requesting help from the public in identifying the people being sought in two separate homicide investigations.

One video shows a man walking just before he turns a corner and shoots the 39 year old male victim who was sitting on the front steps of a building on the 200 block of Pine Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey on October 14, 2014.  Investigators uncovered surveillance video footage that appears to depict the shooter rounding a street corner near the site of the homicide seconds before the homicide.  This suspect appears to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, beige boots and a belt with a large metallic buckle.  The sweatshirt looks white in the photograph but is actually black.

The second homicide occurred on October 19, 2014 in the area of Bond Street and East Sixth Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The shooter is described as a bearded man, 20-30 years of age, dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt with white block lettering.  This suspect is seen exiting what appears to be a white minivan moments before the shooting.
